Target Shopping Hacks

3/12/2025

If you are in love the wide aisles and with the red shopping carts at Target, you need to read this! We’ve got tips and hacks to help you save even more on the thousands of items available at Target.

Use the Target Cartwheel app

If you’re a frequent Target shopper, it can be worthwhile to download the Target Cartwheel app, which is Target’s coupon app. You can use the app to find coupons on the items you need, and each coupon can be used up to four times. You can also double up the coupons with manufacturer coupons for an even steeper discount.

Learn the Target discount codes

Learn the codes Target uses for discounts so you can know when an item’s marked to its lowest price. Prices ending in nine at Target are fully priced, while items with a price that ends in an eight are discounted. When you find an item with a price ending in a four, that’s the lowest it’ll go.

Bring your own bag

Do one for the environment and your wallet at the same time by bringing your own bag to Target. You’ll enjoy a $.05 credit on your purchase for each reusable bag you bring to the store. It may not be a lot, but every penny saved counts — especially when it means using less plastic and reducing clutter at home.

Subscribe to save more

Consider signing up for a subscription for frequently purchased items at Target.com to save money and simplify your shopping routine. With regular discounts on essentials, you can stretch your budget further while avoiding the hassle of reordering or running out unexpectedly.

You’ll also have the flexibility to customize your delivery schedule, making it easier to match shipments to your needs.

Shop Bullseye’s Playground (formerly known as The Dollar Spot)

Don’t give the little dollar section at the front of each Target store a skip. You can find all sorts of treasures here, from adorable home decor items to gift fillers and more. Prices in the Bullseye’s Playground range from $1 to $5. The products are switched often, so check for hidden gems every time you go.

Double dip your coupons

Target is one of few retailers that allows you to stack coupons. You can stack your Target coupons, manufacturer coupons and Cartwheel coupons onto the same item. If you apply your coupons well, you may be able to get the product for free!

Always check the wall-facing endcaps

You may already know that aisle endcaps are the best place to look for discounts at many stores, but Target makes it even easier to find the real bargains by placing all discounted items on the shelves that are facing the wall. Check these out for steep discounts.

Learn the Target sale schedule

One of the best Target hacks is to take advantage of weekly markdowns on specific product categories. Here’s the general Target markdown schedule:

  • Monday: Electronics, kids’ clothing, books, baby supplies and accessories.
  • Tuesday: Pet supplies, food and women’s clothing.
  • Wednesday: Health and beauty products, men’s clothing, furniture and lawn and garden.
  • Thursday: Shoes, toys, home decor, sporting goods, luggage, sleepwear and housewares.
  • Friday: Cosmetics, jewelry, auto products and hardware.

It’s important to note that this schedule is only general and can vary from store to store. The best way to find out the actual weekly markdown schedule in your local Target is to ask an employee to share it with you.

Trade in unwanted electronics for Target cards

Don’t throw out that old phone just yet! Turn your unwanted electronics into gift cards for Target through Target’s Electronics Trade-in Program. Check out your local Target store or the Electronics trade-in program page on the retailer’s website for a list of accepted electronics and conditions for turning them in. You’ll put more cash in your wallet while reducing waste at the same time.
