Be aware of responding to phone calls and text messages from VISA, Pinal County FCU or anyone saying that your debit card has been closed for unusual activity. It then lists a phone number to call and when you call, there is an automated system asking you to enter your debit card and pin. This is a fraudulent message and another way for a fraudster to get information; we do not send anything out like this. We have this information already; we would not need to ask you for it. Always call if you are doubt.

Be aware, fraudsters may have the ability to listen to all of your future conversations If their text message is opened.

Here is an example of one. DO NOT REPY-IT IS A SCAM

The text messages contain the following message: “your credit union account has been frozen-please contact (877-xxx-xxxx) number: --------@emomail.net

URGENT PHISHING SCAM!

There are a variety of telephone, e-mail/website and check scams circulating to the general public requesting personal member information. Members should never send sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, secret words, or PINs in an email, over the phone or submit them through a website. In addition, members should never click directly on links in an email that requests sensitive information, even if they recognize and trust the address. These links can redirect you to a fake -- though very real looking -- Web site. Please contact PCFCU if you have any questions.

We have learned of an email circulating to the general public requesting personal member information by visiting a specific website and taking part in a survey for $50.00. Please help us spread the word that this is not a valid request for information from CUSC or CU Service Centers and that members should never send sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, social security numbers, secret words, or PINs in an email or submit it through a website. In addition, members should never click directly on links in an email that requests sensitive information, even if they recognize and trust the address. These links can redirect you to a fake -- though very real looking -- Web site.

In addition, please make sure to only accept checks from trusted sources.

Below is an example of a scam email. Please do not enter any personal information without consulting us first.

Subject: Your One Time Password for signing into Pinal County Federal Credit Union

Dear NetBranch User,

Your One Time Password is: xxxxxx

To sign into NetBranch, please enter this One Time Password within the next 10 minutes. When you enter this One Time Password, you will be taken to the Sign in page where you can check your secret image and enter your password.

Thank you,
Pinal County Federal Credit Union.

Beware of Scam e-mails claiming you are entitled to a refund from the IRS, they direct you to a fake IRS website and ask you to enter your account information.

FRAUD ANNOUNCEMENT

Be aware of phone scams using our name and asking for personal information! Remember we have your information already!

Please be aware of Lottery Scams, especially those that solicit you from out of the country asking you for money to enter the lottery or to receive lottery money. The lottery checks are usually bogus.

Should you receive e-mails, phone calls, letters, requesting any of your financial information...account #, credit card #, debit card # CVV information on the back of your card etc. more than likely it is some type of scam to get your personal information. Please do not give them any information. Look for the lock icon and https on websites and always review your statements as soon as you receive them. Please call us and report any suspicious activity. Thank you.

Tips

• Never save your password to your desktop
• Avoid passwords that could easily be figured out(example) Date of Birth or Social Security #
• Don't open e-mail from unknown sources
• Be aware of Pop up window scams designed to steal personal information
